Giorgia Meloni was born with the Sun in Capricorn and a Leo Ascendant. What stands out in her chart is Saturn in the 1st house next to the Ascendant, three planets in Capricorn and a tight triangle of Mars, Venus and Uranus.
What is known and what is not
The date and place of birth are not in doubt: January 15, 1977, Rome. The official biography on the Italian government website gives them, and the same date appears in an AGI news agency piece of March 16, 2016, and in Wikidata.
The time of 6:30 p.m. comes from Astrotheme, which cites a birth certificate or birth record contributed by the collector Grazia Bordoni. Astro-Databank says Bordoni quoted the certificate by email. No copy has been shown publicly and the time rests on a single collector, so we give a Rodden rating of AA*, a birth record held by a data collector. We found no independent publication of the time, either in the Italian press or in the available excerpts of Meloni's autobiography Io sono Giorgia. There are no other versions of the time, so this is the one we use.
We cast the chart for 18:30 Central European Time (UTC+1), which Italy observed in January 1977.
Leo rising and Saturn in the 1st house
The Ascendant is at 13°18′ Leo, and a retrograde Saturn at 14°50′ Leo sits 1°32′ past it, in the 1st house. Astrologers treat a planet this close to the Ascendant as one of the strongest in the chart: it colours the first impression and the person's manner.
Tradition links Saturn in the 1st with early responsibility, self-discipline and restraint in public. Leo adds a need for recognition, so in the classic reading the combination describes someone who builds their own authority slowly and persistently.
Here Saturn is woven into an aspect that belongs to a whole generation. Neptune at 15°08′ Sagittarius and Pluto at 14°11′ Libra are in a sextile that lasted for decades and appears in the charts of nearly everyone born in those years. Saturn trines Neptune with an orb of 0°17′ and sextiles Pluto with an orb of 0°39′, and through a personal planet next to the Ascendant this shared background becomes part of the individual chart. Saturn's square to Uranus at 11°22′ Scorpio in the 4th house (orb 3°28′) adds tension between the public image and home, family and roots.
Three planets in Capricorn
The Sun at 25°28′ Capricorn is in the 6th house, with a retrograde Mercury at 7°17′ Capricorn and Mars at 11°03′ Capricorn in the 5th. Mercury and Mars form a conjunction with an orb of 3°46′. Mars is exalted in Capricorn, one of the classical dignities, and tradition reads it as energy that goes into a plan rather than a flare-up.
The Sun trines Jupiter at 21°10′ Taurus, orb 4°17′. Jupiter is in the 10th house, the house of career and public role, and the MC is at 2°12′ Taurus. In the classic reading an earth trine between the Sun and a 10th-house Jupiter is linked with a career that grows gradually, step by step. The Sun's square to Chiron at 27°19′ Aries (orb 1°51′) gives this line a tense note.
Mars, Venus and Uranus
The tightest personal aspects in the chart form a triangle. Mars is sextile Uranus with an orb of 0°18′. Venus at 12°14′ Pisces in the 8th house trines Uranus with an orb of 0°52′. Venus and Mars are sextile each other with an orb of 1°10′. The result is a Venus-Uranus trine with Mars at the point that sextiles both ends. All three bodies are in earth and water signs, so the figure stays within one pair of elements.
Tradition treats the trine as the easiest aspect and the sextile as an opportunity that still has to be taken up. Mars square Pluto (orb 3°07′) brings pressure and sharpness back into this calm picture.
