RM, born Kim Nam-joon, was born in Seoul on September 12, 1994, at 1:28 p.m. The time comes from his birth record, so the chart has houses and an Ascendant. Its most visible features are a Sagittarius Ascendant with the Moon right beside it, Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn, and a cluster of planets in Scorpio.

What is known and what is not

RM has given the date and place himself. In a 2017 interview with Topstar News he said that, strictly speaking, he was born in Seoul, in the Sangdo-dong neighbourhood, and had lived in Ilsan since he was five. Wikidata lists Goyang, the city where he grew up, as his birthplace, which contradicts his own words.

On January 20, 2025 RM posted his birth record on Instagram: September 12, 1994, 1:28 p.m., 4.47 kg, with his mother's name blurred. We have not seen the post itself, since Instagram does not open without logging in. The 1:28 p.m. time is reported by two outlets, Sportskeeda and Daily Jagran, while Koreaboo confirms the post and the weight without quoting the hour. Astrotheme also gives 13:28 with an AA rating, probably taken from the same post, so we do not count it as separate confirmation.

A birth record seen first-hand would earn the highest Rodden rating, AA. We know it only through press reports, so we give A: the time comes from RM himself, but we have not seen the document. One outlet, judging by a search snippet, printed 1:38 p.m., but the page does not load and it looks like a typo. Even with that shift the Ascendant would stay in Sagittarius. We cast the chart for 13:28 Korea Standard Time (UTC+9): Korea did not use daylight saving time in 1994.

Sagittarius rising and the Moon in the 12th house

The Ascendant is at 17°10′ Sagittarius. The Moon at 15°20′ Sagittarius is in the 12th house, less than 2° before the Ascendant. Astrologers read the Moon this close to the rising point as feeling that others pick up at once, while the 12th house adds a need for solitude and an inner life kept away from the public. Tradition ties Sagittarius to the search for meaning, learning and travel.

The Moon's square to Chiron at 15°21′ Virgo in the 9th house is almost exact, orb 0°01′. Chiron traditionally marks a theme of vulnerability, and the 9th house covers education, worldview and foreign countries.

Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn

Neptune at 20°41′ Capricorn is in the 1st house, with Uranus at 22°33′ Capricorn next to it in the 2nd, a conjunction with an orb of 1°51′. The Uranus-Neptune conjunction itself is generational: everyone born in the early 1990s has it. What makes it personal here is its position near the Ascendant. In the classic reading Neptune in the 1st gives an image onto which people project their own expectations, and Uranus in the 2nd is linked with an unconventional attitude to money and values.

The Sun trines Neptune (orb 1°29′) and trines Uranus (orb 3°21′), so the earth signs tie the Sun to this pair.

The Sun's square to the Moon (orb 3°51′) sets earthy Virgo against fiery Sagittarius, thoroughness against breadth. Tradition links Virgo with attention to detail and work with words.

Scorpio in the 11th and Libra at the MC

The MC is at 5°20′ Libra. The 10th house, the house of career and public role, holds Mercury at 11°48′ Libra and Venus at 3°38′ Scorpio. In the 11th house, which covers groups, friends and shared projects, there is a stellium in Scorpio: Jupiter at 11°36′ Scorpio, the North Node at 16°31′ Scorpio and Pluto at 25°40′ Scorpio.
