Volodymyr Zelensky birth chart without a birth time

Birth data

Volodymyr Zelensky was born on January 25, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih. The date and city are not in doubt, but we could not confirm the hour of birth from any source, so the chart is cast for noon. What follows covers what can be read without a time: the Sun, the planets and the aspects between them.

What is known and what is not

Every source agrees on the date and place: January 25, 1978, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The Ukrainian outlets Fakty and UNIAN give them in birthday pieces, and Wikidata lists the same. The maternity hospital is not known, so the coordinates are those of the city centre.

Astro-Databank records 14:00 for Zelensky, marked "from memory". According to the note on the entry, the time supposedly comes from his own words in a video of his registration as a presidential candidate, passed on by one of the database's contributors. We looked for that video, and for any other mention of the hour, in Ukrainian, Russian and English, and found nothing. A time without a verified source gets Rodden rating C from us: approximate or questionable. The 14:00 version is shown in the table above, but we do not cast the chart for it.

The chart is therefore cast for 12:00 Moscow Time (UTC+3), which Ukraine kept in January 1978. It has no houses, Ascendant or MC. The Moon covers about 12° in a day, so its degree and aspects are left out here. Its sign is known, though: the Moon stayed in Leo for the whole of January 25, 1978.

Sun and Venus in Aquarius

The Sun at 5°02′ Aquarius and Venus at 5°47′ Aquarius form a tight conjunction, orb 0°44′. It is the Sun's closest aspect in the chart. Tradition links Aquarius with the collective, like-minded people and an outsider's view of the usual order, and Venus beside the Sun adds taste, charm and work in front of an audience. Zelensky came to public life as an actor and comedy writer: in 2003 he was among the founders of the Kvartal 95 studio.

A fixed T-square with Chiron

The most visible pattern in the chart sits in the fixed signs. The Sun in Aquarius opposes Mars at 0°16′ Leo, orb 4°45′. Mars squares Chiron at 1°12′ Taurus very closely, orb 0°55′, and the Sun squares Chiron with an orb of 3°50′. Together they make a T-square with Chiron at the apex.

In the classic reading the fixed modality describes stubbornness and the ability to hold a course, while the tension of a T-square looks for an outlet through the planet at its apex. Tradition ties Chiron to a vulnerability that a person turns into skill. Mars was retrograde on the day of birth. The article on the square aspect explains how to read this kind of tension.

Leo: Mars, Saturn and the Moon

The sign opposite Aquarius is full as well. Besides Mars, Leo holds a retrograde Saturn at 28°49′ Leo, and the Moon spent the whole birthday in this sign. Astrologers read the Aquarius-Leo axis as a dialogue between the personal and the shared: Leo is about one's own stage and voice, Aquarius about the community. Saturn on the last degree of Leo sextile Jupiter at 27°09′ Gemini (orb 1°39′) combines discipline with a pull toward words and contacts.

Mercury in Capricorn

Mercury at 14°48′ Capricorn makes two close aspects to slow planets. Its square to Pluto at 16°41′ Libra has an orb of 1°52′, and Mercury's sextile to Uranus at 16°06′ Scorpio has an orb of 1°17′. Capricorn gives thinking a practical bent. Pluto in square traditionally adds sharp phrasing and a habit of getting to the bottom of things, and Uranus in sextile is associated with quick reactions and unconventional solutions.

The sextile of Neptune at 17°31′ Sagittarius to Pluto, orb 0°50′, appears in the charts of nearly everyone born in those years, so it is not treated as a personal trait.
