Simone Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio. The time of birth is known, and it puts the Ascendant in Pisces, the same sign as the Sun, Mercury and Venus. All four sit in the 1st house, so the chart is strongly centred on one sign and on the personality itself.
What is known and what is not
The date and place are confirmed by Biography.com, Wikidata, Astro-Databank and Astrotheme. Biography.com adds that she was raised by her grandparents in Spring, Texas. No source names the hospital, so the chart uses the coordinates of the city centre.
The time of 6:02 a.m. comes from a birth certificate held by the collector Viktor E. Astro-Databank and Astrotheme both cite him, so they are one source, not two. No copy of the certificate has been published, and we found no statement of the time by Biles or her family. A birth record held by a collector without a visible copy gets a Rodden rating of AA* in our system; both databases rate it AA.
Astro-Databank notes that the entry once carried 12:30 a.m. of unknown origin, and that the astrologer Paddy de Jabrun rectified the chart to 6:15 p.m. The certificate replaced both. A time with no source and a rectification are not versions of the record, so we do not list them.
The chart is cast for Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5). In 1997 daylight saving time in the United States began on April 6, so on March 14 Ohio was still on standard time.
Pisces rising and three planets in the 1st house
The Ascendant is at 4°16′ Pisces. Venus at 19°05′ Pisces, the Sun at 23°54′ Pisces and Mercury at 26°36′ Pisces follow it in the 1st house: a stellium in Pisces. The conjunction of the Sun and Mercury has an orb of 2°41′, and that of the Sun and Venus an orb of 4°49′. Saturn at 8°11′ Aries is also in the 1st house, just over the border of the next sign.
Tradition describes the 1st house as the body, appearance and the way a person meets the world. Pisces there is read as sensitivity to atmosphere and an ability to take on the mood of a place, and Saturn in the same house adds a demand for structure and discipline.
Within half a degree of the Ascendant lies the fixed star Fomalhaut, one of the four royal stars of Persian tradition. Astrologers connect it with ideals and with high standing that has to be held through effort. On the opposite side of the chart the star Rigel is within a degree of the IC.
The Moon opposite Pluto
The tightest aspect in the chart is the opposition of the Moon at 5°37′ Gemini to Pluto at 5°35′ Sagittarius, orb 0°02′. The Moon is in the 3rd house, Pluto in the 9th. The Moon also trines Uranus at 7°15′ Aquarius with an orb of 1°37′ and sextiles Saturn with an orb of 2°33′, and the Sun and the Moon form a quintile with an orb of 0°16′.
Tradition reads a Moon-Pluto opposition as strong emotions kept under control and a habit of going through crises to a new start. The quintile between the two lights is usually linked with talent and a feel for technique.
The axis of Pisces and Virgo
On the other side of the chart a retrograde Mars at 27°53′ Virgo sits in the 7th house next to the North Node at 28°44′ Virgo, a conjunction with an orb of 0°51′. Mercury in Pisces opposes Mars with an orb of 1°17′, and the Sun opposes Mars with an orb of 3°58′. So the Pisces group in the 1st house faces Mars across the axis of the 1st and 7th houses.
Mars also trines Neptune at 29°19′ Capricorn with an orb of 1°26′, and Neptune trines the Node with an orb of 0°34′. Tradition sees in Mars in Virgo precise, well-drilled effort, and in the opposition across the Ascendant-Descendant axis a life shaped by meeting others: partners and rivals. Neptune, ruler of Pisces in the modern scheme, ties the Virgo Mars back to the Pisces side of the chart through the trine.
