Marion Cotillard was born on September 30, 1975, at 4:50 a.m. in Paris. The Sun in Libra sits in the 1st house below a Virgo Ascendant, and the MC-IC axis falls on two bright stars, Aldebaran and Antares.
What is known and what is not
The Golden Globes awards database, AlloCiné and Wikidata give September 30, 1975, Paris; Wikidata adds the 12th arrondissement. No source names the hospital, so the coordinates are those of the 12th arrondissement near its town hall.
Both major astrology databases give 4:50 a.m., and in both the time goes back to one collector, Didier Geslain. Astro-Databank says he quotes the birth certificate, Astrotheme cites a birth certificate or birth record. No copy of the document is public, and we found no statement of the time by the actress or her family. The Rodden rating is therefore AA*: a birth record as reported by a collector. We found no other versions of the time.
The chart is cast for 4:50 a.m. Central European Time (UTC+1). France had no summer time in 1975; it came back in 1976. Astro-Databank uses central Paris; the difference does not change the sign of either axis. The Ascendant is at 14°06′ Virgo and the MC at 9°49′ Gemini.
A Libra stellium
Three bodies sit in Libra: the Sun at 6°22′ Libra, Pluto at 9°01′ Libra and retrograde Mercury at 23°49′ Libra. This is a stellium. The Sun is in the 1st house, less than half a degree before the 2nd house cusp, while Pluto and Mercury are already in the 2nd house.
The Sun and Pluto form a conjunction with an orb of 2°39′. Tradition links Libra with balance, a sense of form and the need for a counterpart, and in the modern reading Pluto beside the Sun gives the sign more depth and concentration. A 1st house Sun is read as a character that shows at once.
A cardinal T-square with the Moon at the apex
Retrograde Mercury in Libra is in opposition to retrograde Jupiter at 21°25′ Aries, orb 2°23′. The Moon at 27°22′ Cancer in the 11th house squares Mercury (orb 3°32′) and squares Jupiter (orb 5°56′). Together they form a T-square in cardinal signs with the Moon at the apex.
The Moon in Cancer is in its own sign, where tradition considers it strong: sensitivity, memory, attachment to one's own. At the apex it takes the tension of the Mercury-Jupiter axis. Astrologers link the cardinal cross with initiative and a need to move into action.
The Moon's square to Chiron at 26°44′ Aries has an orb of 0°38′. The Moon's conjunction with Saturn at 1°06′ Leo (orb 3°44′) crosses a sign boundary, with the Moon at the end of Cancer and Saturn at the start of Leo, both in the 11th house.
Saturn square Uranus
The tightest aspect in the chart joins Saturn at 1°06′ Leo in the 11th house and Uranus at 1°11′ Scorpio in the 2nd house: a square with an orb of 0°04′. Both signs are fixed. Tradition sees this angle as a clash between an established order and the urge to change it: Saturn holds the form, Uranus shakes it. Everyone born in those weeks shares this aspect of slow planets; the houses make it personal.
Stars on the angles and on Mercury
The MC at 9°49′ Gemini is conjunct Aldebaran within half a degree, and the IC opposite falls on Antares. Tradition counts both among the four royal stars. In the classical reading Aldebaran at the top of the chart promises recognition that rests on integrity in one's chosen work.
Mercury at 23°49′ Libra meets two stars at once: Arcturus almost exactly and Spica within half a degree. Tradition associates Spica with talent and Arcturus with finding one's own path. Mercury also trines Mars at 24°19′ Gemini in the 10th house, orb 0°29′. Both are in air signs, and the link between word and action runs through the house of career.
