Hillary Clinton birth chart with time of birth

For years Hillary Clinton's chart was a textbook case of disputed data: astrologers worked with at least four different birth times. Since 2023 a copy of the birth certificate has been available, and the chart is rated AA. Its most visible features are four bodies in Scorpio in the 6th house, an exact Mercury-Saturn square and a Mars-Pluto conjunction in Leo.
What is known and what is not
Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The date and place were never in doubt; only the time was.
On March 2, 2023 a scan of her Illinois certificate of birth, obtained by one of the database's collectors, appeared on Astro-Databank. The time is handwritten as 6:45 p.m. A document with the birth time earns the Rodden rating AA. We cast the chart for 6:45 p.m. Central Standard Time (UTC−6): daylight saving time in Chicago ended in September 1947.
There is one caveat. The hour digit is not perfectly clear: it could be a 6 or a sloppily written 10. After deliberation the database editors judged 6 the most likely reading, and we follow them. The 10:45 p.m. reading is kept as a possible version.
Older books and databases still carry the times used before the document surfaced:
- 8:00 p.m.: the most common version before 2023, reportedly from Clinton herself, never confirmed by a document;
- 8:02 a.m.: from an unnamed member of her office staff, 2003; a related version of about 8 a.m. was relayed in 2001 as her own words;
- 2:18 a.m.: a 2016 version whose author later withdrew the claimed confirmation from the registrar.
The 8:00 p.m. version keeps the Ascendant in Gemini, as at 6:45 p.m., but on the last degree of the sign, so the houses shift. The other hours change the sign: Leo for 10:45 p.m., Scorpio for 8:02 a.m., Virgo for 2:18 a.m. So the houses below apply only to the 6:45 p.m. chart.
Scorpio in the 6th house
The Sun at 2°45′ Scorpio, Chiron at 12°20′ Scorpio, Venus at 16°47′ Scorpio and a retrograde Mercury at 21°19′ Scorpio all sit in the 6th house, joined by Jupiter at 0°36′ Sagittarius. In the classic reading the 6th house covers daily work, service and duties. Tradition associates Scorpio with depth, focus and endurance under pressure.
Mercury square Saturn
Mercury at 21°19′ Scorpio and Saturn at 21°20′ Leo form a square with an orb of 0°00′, exact to the minute. Saturn is in the 4th house. Tradition links a Mercury-Saturn square with careful, thorough thinking, a habit of checking everything and a serious attitude to the spoken word. Retrograde Mercury adds a tendency to revisit decisions. The principles of this angle are covered in the article on the square.
Mars and Pluto in Leo
In the 3rd house Mars at 14°14′ Leo and Pluto at 14°51′ Leo form a conjunction with an orb of 0°36′. Astrologers read a Mars-Pluto conjunction as a large store of concentrated energy and a reluctance to back down. The 3rd house describes speech, learning and the immediate circle.
Venus in Scorpio squares both of them: Pluto with an orb of 1°55′, Mars with an orb of 2°32′. All three bodies are in fixed signs, and tradition reads such a square as strong feelings that are hard to shift. The article on the conjunction covers how this aspect is read in general.
Gemini rising
The Ascendant is at 11°08′ Gemini, with a retrograde Uranus at 25°55′ Gemini in the 1st house. Tradition connects Gemini rising with attention to words and information, and Uranus in the 1st with independence and an unwillingness to fit other people's expectations. The Moon at 28°31′ Pisces in the 11th house is square Uranus (orb 2°36′) and trine Jupiter (orb 2°04′).
