Zohran Mamdani birth chart with time of birth

Updated Markdown

Mayor of New York City since January 1, 2026. His mother confirmed the 1:15 a.m. time through his press officer, so the rating is A, but the Ascendant sits right on the Cancer-Leo boundary.

Birth data

Zohran Mamdani was born on October 18, 1991, at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. His Libra Sun sits almost exactly on Arcturus and near Spica, and the Ascendant is on the first degree of Leo, so even the rising sign is a matter of seconds. The tightest aspect in the chart is a Mars-Saturn square.

What is known and what is not

The date and Kampala come from CNN Editorial Research (with the full name Zohran Kwame Mamdani), his New York State Assembly biography and Wikidata. Only the Ugandan Daily Monitor and Wikidata name Nsambya Hospital.

The 1:15 a.m. time comes from his mother, the filmmaker Mira Nair. In 2025 the app Co-Star asked his team, and press officer Grace Han replied: "Zohran's birthdate, place and time, confirmed by Zohran's mother: October 18, 1991 / Kampala, Uganda / 1:15am". Co-Star showed the exchange in an Instagram story, now expired; Astro-Databank keeps a screenshot and, like Astrotheme, rates the time A. A mother's statement relayed by the person's own office and visible at a public link meets Rodden rating A. We found no other version of the time.

The chain is long: the mother's memory, a press officer, a story, a screenshot. And the Ascendant at 0°10′ Leo is so close to the boundary that less than a minute before 1:15 the end of Cancer would have been rising. So we treat the Ascendant sign as uncertain. Planet signs and aspects do not depend on it, and Chiron at 8°35′ Leo stays in the 1st house with either rising sign.

The chart uses the hospital coordinates and 1:15 East Africa Time (EAT, UTC+3).

The Sun between Arcturus and Spica

The Sun is at 24°02′ Libra in the 3rd house. Arcturus is 0°04′ away and Spica 0°19′. Both lie in late Libra and count as benefic: Ptolemy gave Spica the nature of Venus with some Mars, Arcturus that of Mars and Jupiter.

Tradition links Arcturus with independence and the ability to lead or teach others. A star on the Sun classically amplifies its theme of public role and reputation. The 3rd house describes speech, learning and close surroundings. Among the Sun's minor aspects the tightest is a semisquare to Venus with an orb of 0°31′.

Mars square Saturn and a Scorpio stellium

Mars at 0°45′ Scorpio forms a square to Saturn at 0°19′ Aquarius with an orb of 0°26′. Mercury at 3°44′ Scorpio is conjunct Mars with an orb of 2°58′ and also squares Saturn with an orb of 3°24′. Together with Pluto at 19°15′ Scorpio, Mercury and Mars form a stellium in Scorpio: Mercury and Mars in the 3rd house, Pluto in the 4th.

Tradition reads the Mars-Saturn square as tension between acting at once and the need for patience and structure, with stamina built through resistance. Mercury beside Mars in Scorpio suggests sharp, insistent speech.

Saturn is formally in the 7th house, only minutes of arc past its cusp opposite the Ascendant, so its house depends on seconds and the reading does not rest on it.

The Aquarius Moon and Pluto

The Moon at 17°59′ Aquarius in the 7th house squares Pluto with an orb of 1°15′. The Sun trines the Moon, but widely, with an orb of 6°02′.

Tradition links an Aquarius Moon with a need for distance and feelings directed toward a shared cause, and the 7th house with partners and the public. Modern astrologers read the square to Pluto as emotional intensity and a pull toward sharp change.

Venus and Jupiter in Virgo

Venus at 8°31′ Virgo and Jupiter at 7°04′ Virgo in the 2nd house form a conjunction with an orb of 1°26′. Both trine Uranus at 10°10′ Capricorn: Venus trines Uranus with an orb of 1°39′, Jupiter trines Uranus with an orb of 3°06′. The tightest minor aspect in the chart is Jupiter's quintile to Pluto with an orb of 0°10′.

Uranus is conjunct Neptune at 14°07′ Capricorn with an orb of 3°56′, and Neptune is conjunct the North Node with an orb of 0°31′. These slow planets are shared by everyone born in those months. The trine from Venus and Jupiter to Uranus is read as ease in joining practical calculation with new ideas.
